Teen who was planning a shooting at Sissonville HS has been arrested

A teenager was arrested Wednesday after being accused of planning a shooting at Sissonville High School. Russell Matthew Kidd, 18, of Sissonville, is charged with making terroristic threats, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. The complaint said on Feb. 23, officers learned that Kidd may have been involved in plotting a school shooting with another teen who was previously arrested. Court records said a search of Kidd’s backpack by school staff revealed papers, including ” what appeared to be a student hit list” along with drawings that referenced buildings on campus and showed a person holding a gun next to a dead body. The news release said Kidd is awaiting court proceedings at South Central Regional Jail.
