Two West Virginia universities prepare for new campus carry law

Both Marshall and West Virginia University publicly opposed the statewide campus carry law when it was being considered by the legislature in 2023. State lawmakers passed the law, and now the schools are preparing for its implementation beginning on July 1. Marshall will host a second, virtual meeting via Teams on Wednesday, March 27 at 4 p.m. Marshall University officials have outlined a dozen areas that will be established as gun-free zones including office spaces, patient care areas, childcare facilities, arena and stadium events and residence halls.
