VA has seen 23 percent rise in WVA enrollment of veterans

The Department of Veterans Affairs says they have seen a 23 percent rise in West Virginia veteran enrollment for VA health care over the past year, with more than 2,000 veterans joining. The PACT Act, which extended health care and benefits to millions of veterans has helped this increase. As of March 5, veterans who were subjected to toxins during their military service and meeting other requirements became eligible to directly enroll in VA health care. The VA’s outreach campaign has led to a nationwide 30 percent increase in enrollment, representing the highest yearly enrollment in at least five years and a nearly 50 percent rise from 2020, due to pandemic-level enrollment.
