Tuesday kicked off the 2024 the West Virginia Academic Showdown that was held at the Culture Center in Charleston. Fourteen high schools from all across the state are competing for not only bragging rights but also the Academic Showdown finale. Eyewitness News said the idea started back in 2022 to draw attention to high school scholars, as teams have the chance to head to the table and show off their knowledge. This year, numbers have soared as more than 90 teams from 50 high schools and 31 counties look to show off their skills.
