Remains found in Beckley are connected to a 24-year-old cold case

A cold case that’s more than twenty years old may have been solved. West Virginia State Police confirmed this week that remains found Monday in Beckley are believed to be those of a mother and daughter who have been missing nearly 24 years. The remains of Susan and Natasha “Alex” Carter were found in the 100 block of Kyle Lane in Beckley as crews were excavating a property. The suspect, Larry Webb, had been imprisoned at Mount Olive Correctional Complex, admitted to the killings. He suffered a medical episode and was pronounced dead at Montgomery General Hospital on Monday morning. The remains were located Monday afternoon. Alex Carter was only 10 years old when she and her mother disappeared. They were last seen around Aug. 8, 2000, in Beckley.
