A Roane County woman is facing multiple charges after investigators said she wrote more than $41,000 in checks under another person’s name. Jennifer Godbey of Spencer is charged with financial exploitation of an elderly person, forgery and uttering, according to a criminal complaint filed in Roane County Magistrate Court. Investigators said Godbey began managing the finances of an elderly person who’d recently had some health issues and admitted to writing more than $41,000 worth of checks in their name. Godbey is currently being held on a $45,000 bond.
