Teen to be tried as an adult in tobacco shop murder case

A 14-year-old charged with first-degree murder in the death of a tobacco shop employee will have his case tried as an adult. Bre’jaun Williams-Hampton appeared in Kanawha County Circuit Court Tuesday morning for a transfer hearing where Judge Maryclaire Akers ruled the case would be moved from juvenile to adult status. Eyewitness News said another 14-year-old, also charged with first-degree murder, has not been identified because his case is still sealed and in juvenile court. They are accused in the murder of 19-year old Caden Martin who was shot and killed while working at the Tobacco & Pipe Shop in North Charleston on Jan. 30.
