A plan is in place to fix Boone County landslip

Heavy rain in early April caused a landslide in the Lens Creek Mountain area of Route 94 in Boone County. WVDOT told Eyewitness News that one lane of Lens Creek Road (WV 94) remains closed on the Boone County side of Lens Creek Mountain. They’ve secured a contractor to repair damage caused by the slide using soil nails — long steel bolts sunk horizontally into rock to stabilize the earth beneath the roadway. Once those are in place the hillside will be reinforced with concrete slabs. Work is underway now. A second, smaller slide on the Kanawha County side of the mountain will also be addressed with temporary traffic lights.
