City announces plans to upgrade Charleston fire stations

At it’s meeting this week, the Charleston City Council approved the purchase of property in the 1300 block of Lee Street East to construct a new fire headquarters that will offer office space, wellness facilities and training opportunities, according to a news release from the city. The city will enter a contract with Cincinnati-based KZF Design for architecture, engineering and construction. Also, the capital city’s eight existing fire stations are due for improvements. The Thrasher Group will take the lead on condition assessments and renovation efforts.
