The City of Charleston Police released data this week showing the worst places for car accidents.The most accidents happened near the 58-mile marker on I-64, with 146 crashes in 2023. The exits onto Virginia Street, Washington Street, and Oakwood Road from I-64 are the most common accident areas on the interstate.
The intersection of Lee Street and Pennsylvania Avenue had 36 crashes in 2023, while the intersection of Washington Street and Pennsylvania Avenue had 34. They’ll use the data to monitor the situation and encourage extra caution in those spots.
