According to Eye Witness News, a reported gas leak in a Braxton County hotel caused 68 people to seek treatment with many people reported to be in critical condition. The Gassaway Fire Department responded to a “mass casualty” situation at the Microtel Inn and Suites at around 2 a.m. Sunday morning. According to dispatchers, 68 people were taken to the hospital and three are in critical condition with carbon monoxide poisoning. Fire marshals have swept the structure with carbon monoxide detectors to confirm safe levels and the business has since reopened.
