Kanawha Falls residents raise concerns about access roads

The small Fayette County community of Kanawha Falls have been dealing with access issues to their own neighborhoods. Since the Kanawha Falls Bridge was shut down in 2018, the only way in and out has been by the narrow and winding Boonesborough Road. It’s a route that can often be shut down by downed trees and slips when storms come. The West Virginia Division of Highways has previously said that replacing the bridge that used to connect the residents directly to Route 60 near Glen Ferris would cost $40 million, and that repairing it altogether would have a similar price tag. DOH determined the access road was the most cost effective way to remedy the situation. Eyewitness News reached out to WVDOH and they responded, saying there are no significant projects scheduled on Boonesborough Road at this time.
