KRT to hold public hearings on a plan to change routes and fares

Changes could be coming to the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority as the KRT has laid out its operations analysis with recommendations to discontinue 11 of the 23 routes in underperforming areas. Changes could also be coming to bus fare as the proposal includes getting rid of an under-utilized five-day pass. It would keep the $1.50 single-ride fare, but the one-day unlimited pass will go from $2.50 to $3.50. However, the cost for a 31-day pass would go down from $60 to $50. They’ll host meetings for public comment virtually and at the in-person public hearing on May 31. The board won’t hold a vote until June or July and Eyewitness News said the changes likely would not take effect until at least a year later.
