Man accused of murdering his daughter has been sentenced to prison

A Fayette County man has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences after being convicted of two first-degree murder charges. Carl Blaine Cox of Dempsey, was convicted in February of the murder of his daughter, Rhonda Cox, and son-in-law, Jimmy Neal, II, in 2022. Then, Cox allegedly murdered the pair after Neal threatened to come forward about an incestuous relationship he had with this daughter when she was a minor. Eyewitness News reported that Cox initially blamed Neal and said the two wrestled for the gun, but the investigation would show that both victims were found lying in bed when they were murdered with no signs of struggle. Video surveillance from the home showed Cox entering the room with the murder weapons before exiting the room minutes later. Following a five-day trail, the jury made a recommendation for mercy on both counts which would grant Cox parole after serving 30 years before becoming eligible, according to prosecutors.
