Nineteen people in Glasgow received letters last week informing them that cars on their property were in violation of a town ordinance. Eyewitness News reported the letters said the homeowners were in violation because the properties had cars on it that were “inoperative/unlicensed/unregistered.” This created some concern in town about government overreach. People who did not want to go on camera told Eyewitness News that they feel the town should not have the authority to tell them what they can and cannot have on their property. Glasgow Mayor Donald P. Fannin said it’s town code, but clarified that the town has no plans of towing anyone’s cars off of their properties. There will be a council meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday at Glasgow Town Hall and this is on the agenda.
