Utility regulators order investigation into security against cyber attacks

Utility regulators in West Virginia ordered an investigation into water and sewer utilities’ security against cyberattacks. According to a news release the West Virginia Public Service Commission will direct all water and sewer systems in the Mountain State to obtain a threat vulnerability assessment within 60 days, The utilities were directed to certify with the commission when and who performed the assessment. Once an assessment is complete, the utility will also be required to develop a plan to address cyber threats.
