Man in custody after shooting in Huntington

A man is in custody after a shooting Friday night in Huntington that left one person dead, according to a police report. Deonte Joplin, 25, of Matewan, turned himself in to West Virginia State Police in Mingo County Saturday afternoon. Reports came in at 9:45 p.m. Friday night and upon arrival, officers discovered a 40-year-old man dead outside of an apartment near The Village on Sixth complex. According to initial reports from 911, the incident escalated after to disturbance broke out between two people. Huntington Police Detectives obtained a warrant for Joplin’s arrest on first degree murder charges. Joplin is being held at Southwestern Regional Jail
