Gov. Justice signed Senate Bill 1007 into law Friday which will provide more than $80 million to higher education institutions and strengthen state financial aid programs. The governor’s office said the legislation allocates $40 million to the Higher Education Grant Program, doubling the amount low-income students can receive from $3,400 to $6,800 for the upcoming academic year, along with an addition $11.2 million towards the College Access Emergency Grant that will provide $2,000 to qualifying students.
