New location is being considered for Boone County’s animal shelter

The Boone County Dog Pound could be moving to a new location. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office took over the pound from the county commission last fall. The Boone Animal Rescue Coalition works with the sheriff’s office to try and find a rescue or placement for the animals. Volunteer Ashley McNeely told Eyewitness News the current location in the Fosterville area hinders people from coming out to adopt or volunteer. She said a more central location would be better, and that the current building is also in need of some repairs. The next step would be to find land for the new shelter and then start with funding sources.
