Press conference reveals new details in Kyneddi Miller case

A press conference Thursday revealed details surrounding the death of Kyneddi Miller. Troopers who visited the Boone County in 2023 and said Kyneddi appeared to be OK, but informed workers of an exchange that the trooper found “odd” where the 14-year-old expressed concerns over being around people due to a fear of COVID-19.

Eyewitness News reported the girl began homeschooling in 2021 at her mother’s request. A year after the welfare check, Kyneddi was found dead and “emaciated to a skeletal state” on a foam pad in the bathroom. Investigators said the girl’s grandmother, Donna Stone, told deputies that the girl had not attended school since late 2019 or early 2020 and had only been outside the house possibly two times in the last four years. Officials do not know what happened between the 2023 welfare check and the day Kyneddi was found dead.

Julie Miller remains in jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond. She waived her preliminary hearing in April, sending the case to circuit court to be heard by a grand jury. The grandparents, Jerry and Donna Stone, remain free on bond.
