Annual sales tax holiday is set for early August

A tax holiday aimed at saving West Virginia families money during back-to-school shopping is set for the beginning of August. West Virginia’s sales tax holiday will eliminate taxes on merchandise including clothing and footwear $150 or less from Aug. 2-5. The sale tax will not apply to computers and tablets – $500 or less; school supplies – $50 or less; and sports equipment – $150 or less. To help celebrate the brief sales tax break, the Huntington Mall said in a news release it is offering $25 gift cards while supplies last to shoppers who make purchases totaling $250 or more at any combination of stores at the mall between July 22 and Aug. 18.
