Arsonist faces charges for two separate fires

A West Virginia man has been charged after investigators said he set fire to a hotel room he was staying in after setting fire to his own home. Christopher Johnson of Falling Waters is charged with two counts of first-degree arson after separate fires in May and June, according to a news release from the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office. Fire crews responded on June 23 to a hotel room at the Comfort Inn in Bedington, W.Va., where a small fire was found in the bathroom. Investigators said Johnson admitted to investigators that he set the fire in the hotel room and told them he was staying there as a result of a separate fire at his own residence in May that he also started. Johnson is currently being held on a $107,500 bond in Eastern Regional Jail.
