City reveals the economic impact of cycling championships

U.S. cycling championships that were held in Charleston earlier this year generated $4.6 million in the local economy. The 2024 USA Cycling Pro Road Championships drew 2,794 overnight guests that generated increased spending in the city by 22%, according to a news release from the City of Charleston. More than 430 athletes from 46 states competed in three races, including a time trials event that was an Olympic-qualifying event. The 2024 USA Cycling Pro Road Championships were the first of a five-year commitment from USA Cycling to hold the annual national championship event in Charleston. The 2025 championships will take place in Charleston May 20-25.
