Former Columbus Zoo executive, accused of theft, enters plea

A former Columbus Zoo executive pleaded guilty this week. Former purchasing director Tracy Murnane is one of four former executives accused in a theft scandal, using Zoo money for tickets to sporting events, concerts and golf memberships. Investigators have said that $2 million in Zoo money was misused. Murnane pleaded guilty to all counts on Monday and could face up to 8.5 years in prison. He’s set to be sentenced in September. Last week, former marketing director Peter Fingerhut pleaded guilty to 17 counts and now awaits sentencing. Former CFO Greg Bell also has pleaded guilty and has promised to cooperate with prosecutors.
