Huntington Police swear in six new chaplains

The Huntington Police Department added six chaplains to the force Monday, marking the first time in years the agency has had clergy members in its ranks. Rev. Timothy Dixon, Bishop C.D. Shaw, Elder Virgil Johnson and pastors Donald Porter, Darrell Buttram and Robert Hogsett were sworn in during a ceremony after navigating an interview process with officers and advisors. Eyewitness News said the chaplains aim to build relationships with officers and the community while providing emotional and spiritual support to first responders. The six chaplains boast more than 250 years of collective experience.
