KCEAA faces financial hardship

The Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority (KCEAA) is facing a significant budget overrun, fighting to keep up with an increasing number of emergency calls with their current resources. A surge in overtime pay for paramedics and escalating costs for medical equipment have driven up the expenses of operating ambulances around the clock for all types of emergencies. This financial strain has placed the KCEAA in a precarious position. As of May 31, 2024, the authority is staring at a $2.3 million deficit, indicating expenditures far exceed incoming revenue.
