Marshall University Fountain named to ‘Historic’ list

The iconic fountain at Marshall University is now being recognized as a historic place. The fountain was built in 1972 as a memorial to the 75 lives lost in the 1970 Marshall plane crash, and was named to the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places last week. In addition to the Marshall University Memorial Fountain, Huntington’s 14th Street West Historic District was also added to the registry list. The area covers Madison Avenue, Virginia Avenue, 15th Street West and 13th Street West.
