New system aims to help DoHS case workers

The West Virginia Department of Human Service said it is working to develop and implement a tool aimed at better assessing and managing reported abuse and neglect cases. The system will allow for a series of evidence-based assessments at key points in child and adult protection casework to support staff in making decisions. “This department’s goal is to provide a more tailored and effective response to the unique needs of each family in West Virginia, according to a news release. The DoHS held a kickoff meeting Wednesday morning to provide an overview of the system. The project is expected to be implemented statewide by January 2026.
