Parole is denied for a murder suspect who was a teenager at the time of the killing

A woman who was convicted for murdering her friend in a case that drew national attention had her parole denied for a second consecutive time Monday. Rachel Shoaf, who is serving 30 years in prison for the second-degree murder of 16-year-old Star City resident Skylar Neese, had her parole denied. She was previously denied parole for the first time in May 2023. Shoaf — who was 17 years old at the time — and Shelia Eddy admitted to stabbing their classmate in Greene County, Pa., in July 2012. About seven months later, Shoaf led police to the body and confessed to the crime. Both Shoaf and Eddy are being held at the Lakin Correctional Center in Mason County.
