Application period is open now for drought reimbursement program

West Virginia officials announced Friday the Emergency Drought Relief Reimbursement Program, set to provide finances to agencies helping secure and distribute water for irrigation and livestock supplies after a state of emergency was declared last month. A news release from Gov. Jim Justice’s office said the program reimburses some expenses accrued by fire departments, conservation districts, emergency management agencies and county commissions who are providing water to farms in the several counties still experiencing severe or extreme drought conditions. Applications must include documentation of incurred costs and be submitted as soon as possible.
