Deal reached to avoid sale of the Greenbrier Hotel

The Justice family announced Thursday that it has reached an agreement to avoid the sale of the Greenbrier. The Greenbrier Hotel Corp., owned and operated by Gov. Jim Justice’s family, has agreed to a specified amount that will be paid in full to Beltway Capital by Oct. 24, averting the sale of the corporation’s assets, which includes the iconic resort. The statement said the Justice family has already secured the funding for the payment, but Beltway reserves its rights if the payment isn’t made. The move comes after the Greenbrier was listed for public auction earlier this month following the default of a loan originally for $142 million from JPMorgan. That loan was sold to Beltway who then declared it default. Jim Justice bought the Greenbrier resort in the summer of 2009.
