Drought causes State of Emergency to be extended for another month

Governor Jim Justice said the State of Emergency for the ongoing drought has been extending, impacting all 55 counties. The US Drought Monitor shows extreme and severe drought conditions in West Virginia, so the State of Emergency has been extended for another thirty days. Farmers are the biggest concern, but the drought may impact this year’s fall foliage across the Mountain State with leaves turning brown more quickly.
