Former Columbus Zoo leader is sentenced

The former chief financial officer of the Columbus Zoo has been sentenced to prison time for his role in the theft of nearly $2.3 million. Greg Bell pleaded guilty to 14 felony counts related to the theft of zoo funds in October 2023. He was indicted along with former Chief Executive Officer Tom Stalf and former Director of Marketing Pete Fingerhut in a 90-count indictment. On Monday, Bell was sentenced to prison time for his role in the scandal. The sentence was for 15 years in prison, but as sentences are to run concurrently, the total prison term is three years. The three were accused of stealing money from the zoo and using the funds for tickets to concerts, sporting events and travel for family members to Hawaii, Florida, and other destinations.
