Matewan man with past convictions faces charges for threatening officers

A Mingo County man is facing multiple charges after allegedly beating his mother and making threats against law enforcement. Trellis Ray Cisco of Matewan, is charged with domestic violence, unlawful assault and making terroristic threats, according to a criminal complaint filed in Mingo County Magistrate Court. Deputies that confronted Cisco were told traps had been established around the property to prepare for the arrival of law enforcement. Records said Cisco referenced Timothy Kennedy, a man accused of killing a West Virginia trooper in June 2023. Deputies said Cisco pledged to “do better” than Kennedy and referred to him as a martyr. Cisco has two prior domestic violence convictions from 2012. He’s being held at Southwestern Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bail.
