Mountaineers have a lot of new faces and challenges this season

The Mountaineers face a substantial restructure in its defensive secondary this season with only two starters from last year’s five-man unit. Senior Aubrey Burks is back for his third season as a starter at WVU and Senior Anthony Wilson is back, holding down a safety position. Burks is moving up to spear safety after playing a deep safety position. Jacolby Spells, a junior, who saw considerable action as a backup cornerback in ’23 is also returning. WVU will be depending on a lot of new faces in the new season. “I think we have a lot of talent,” stated Coach ShaDon Brown. August 31, the Mountaineers open the season at home against Penn State.
