Nicholas County complex under construction will become the site for three schools

Construction is ramping up in Nicholas County on the Summersville Academic Complex. Once it’s finished, Summersville Middle School, Summersville Elementary School and Glade Creek Elementary will all be in the same place. The $85 million facility, funded by FEMA and School Building Authority of West Virginia dollars, will be a PK-8 facility meant to replace Summersville Middle, which sustained damage in the 2016 flood, and Summersville and Glade Creek Elementary Schools, which are both in aging buildings. The Summersville Middle students have been in pods behind Nicholas County High School since the 2016 floods. The Richwood Middle and High School students have also been in pods while they wait for construction to finish. The Cherry River Complex is expected now to be finished at some point during the next school year.
