Raleigh County Prosecutor is placed on administrative leave

Raleigh County’s embattled prosecuting attorney, Benjamin Hatfield, has been placed on administrative leave by the county commission until investigations are complete. Raleigh County Commission President Greg Duckworth told Eyewitness News that they can’t comment since it’s a personnel issue, but the decision to place him on leave came after “conferring with attorneys.” Last week, a family court judge dismissed a domestic violence emergency protective order issued against him. Hatfield was first elected prosecutor in November 2020, and he’s running unopposed for another four-year term in office in the November election.
