An Ohio man accused of shooting a woman in Kanawha County earlier this year pleaded not guilty to multiple charges Thursday. Aweis Mohammed Abdi of Columbus, Ohio, pleaded not guilty to malicious wounding, wanton endangerment and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. He was charged in a March 2024 shooting in the 300 block of Davidson Avenue in Rand where he is accused of shooting a woman in the face while in a vehicle where two others were present, including an 8-year-old child. No information is available on her current condition. The child in the vehicle was not injured. Abdi remains held on a $75,000 bond after a bond modification request on Thursday was denied. A trial date was scheduled for Oct. 7.
