Two admit their roles in a Detroit-based drug trafficking operation

Two men were sentenced to prison on distribution of methamphetamine charges and admitting their roles in a Drug Trafficking Organization. Vernard Brown of Detroit, Michigan was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by four years supervised release after he was arrested by Huntington police in Nov. 2023. Police searched Brown’s home where they discovered quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with several guns and rounds of ammunition. Brown admitted to being a member of the Drug Trafficking Organization and to owning the weapons to sell drugs. Denzil Grant II, of Hurricane, was sentenced to four years in prison and three years’ supervised release. Authorities discovered 13.5 grams of methamphetamine following a traffic stop and he later admitted his plans to distribute the drugs and having previously reaching out to the DTO ringleader, Darrell Massey, for methamphetamine. The two join Massey to be among the 27 people who have been indicted on charges relating to the distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl from Detroit, Michigan to Huntington and other southern areas of West Virginia.
