Yellowjackets are impacted by West Virginia’s drought

Yellow jackets have been out and about in full force this summer, in large part due to the ongoing drought conditions the area has been experiencing. Eyewitness News said the heat wave has dried up the soil, leaving the yellow jackets swarming areas like sports fields, creeks, gardens and areas that have sprinkler systems. Yellow jackets are most aggressive during the late summer and early fall months. The insects often abandon their nests in winter.
