Charleston Police Department considers a move to a new building

The Charleston Police Department has outgrown its current space at city hall, and plans are in the works to move the department to a larger space. A Charleston Public Safety Center study conducted by Silling Architects found the police department’s current space is poorly configured and technologically antiquated. The report noted 14 possible sites located close to downtown were identified as possible places to move. Of those, the Truist Operations Facility & Data Center at One Piedmont Center would best meet the department’s needs, and the seller is willing. There’s no timeline for the possible move.
