E-sports are gaining popularity at South Charleston High School

About 46% of gamers worldwide are female and one student at South Charleston High School is looking to increase that number with help from the school’s E-sports program. Mollee Derrick, a sophomore, said she was the only girl in the program last year, but this year it’s a different story. Eyewitness News said right now, there are 35 high schools and technical schools in West Virginia that have e-sports teams or programs. Students are learning software, programming and are now taking a big step in rewiring a real-life car simulator. The South Charleston High School class prepares all students for their future, but it’s turning into a very popular program for female students looking to make their mark.
