Fire damages a family’s home in Mammoth

A home was damaged in a fire in in Kanawha County Sunday afternoon as several crews responded to battle the blaze. Reports of the fire came in about 4 p.m. along Robinson Drive in Mammoth. When crews arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the attic of the house, according to Chief Gordy Coleman of Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department. There were no injuries and the family that lived in the home were outside by the time the fire crews arrived. The heat and the double roof on the home posed a challenge for firefighters, but they extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
