‘Hidden Figures’ women are honored in Washington, D.C.

The Congressional Gold Medal was presented to the families of West Virginia mathmetician Katherine Johnson this week. Others, including Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson and Christine Darden were also honored for their contributions to space exploration at the U.S. Capitol. The women were the subject of the Hidden Figures book and movie. All women who worked as mathematicians and engineers in the U.S. space program from the 1930s to 1970s were included as honorees.
