Huntington double murder suspect enters a plea

A man charged in a double murder investigation pleaded guilty Tuesday. 25-year old Dakota Keaton of Huntington, pleaded guilty on two counts of second-degree murder following a 2021 shooting in Guyandotte that killed 35-year-old Andrea Burnette and 31-year-old Terence Holmes, according to the Cabell County Circuit Clerk’s Office. Also charged in the case is 31-year old Marcellas Cortez, of Garden City, Michigan, who allegedly reached out to Keaton to assist in the killing.
Eyewitness News reported that the two men were believed to be part of a Detroit-based drug trafficking organization and the murders were connected to the sale of drugs in Huntington. Keaton is being housed at Southwestern Regional Jail. Sentencing is scheduled for November.
