The Kanawha County Board of Education met Tuesday to discuss plans for possible consolidations. The potential include four middle schools and would have East Bank Middle School consolidate into DuPont Middle School in eastern Kanawha County and McKinley Middle School into Hayes Middle School in St. Albans. There are four elementary schools being considered for consolidation as well-Mary Ingle, Belle, Malden and Midland Trail. The county receives funding on a per pupil basis. With the loss of students in the county, they’ve lost funding, which is why they’re looking into these consolidations.
