The Kanawha County Commission has issued a burn ban in light of ongoing drought conditions in the region began Friday until further notice due to an expected high risk of wildfire potential. Kanawha County Commission President Lance Wheeler said “We’re looking at the weather right now and we’ve got extreme concerns for this weekend,” The ban includes all outdoor burning and the county sheriff’s office has been notified. The public is encouraged to report any outdoor burning it sees during the ban. A statewide ban on outdoor burning does go into effect October. 1.
