Several family pets died in a fire in the Southside neighborhood of Huntington early Saturday. It happened about 1:30 a.m. along the 100 block of 9th avenue. Dispatchers said a caller reported that there was a big fire in the backyard of their home. The residents were able to escape unharmed but several cats died in the blaze. The Huntington Fire Department were able to extinguish the fire within an hour of arrival.
