Bond is denied for the man accused of murdering Amber Spradlin

A judge denied a motion for a $5 million bond to be reduced in the 2023 murder case of an eastern Kentucky woman. Michael K. McKinney III has been charged with fatally stabbing Amber Spradlin at a Arkansas Creek home and seven counts of tampering with evidence. Eyewitness News said the state reviewed evidence and McKinney’s mental condition, claiming he was in treatment for anger management and calling him “mentally unstable and a danger to the community.” Prosecutors said the victim was stabbed at least a dozen times in the head, neck and torso, noting DNA evidence was found linking the incident to McKinney.
