Landmark scary sites are part of West Virginia’s spooky trail

The state of West Virginia is embracing the spooky season of October with a new statewide Paranormal Trail. The trail is designed to help guide residents and visitors to some of the Mountain State’s most spine-chilling sites, according to a news release. An accompanying digital passport allows visitors to check in at haunted locations, earn points and unlock prizes along the way. Some of the sites on the trail include: Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum; Lake Shawnee Abandoned Amusement Park; West Virginia Penitentiary; and the Mothman Museum.
